If your child is ill and too unwell to attend school please contact the school office from 8.30am each morning to advise us of their absence. This will mean their absence is accounted for and appropriate information can be recorded in the registration system.

- Their year group and class teachers name
- Reason for absence
- Your relationship to the child

Many childhood illnesses are minor but some have a risk of further infection to others.
As a school we follow guidance from NHS England and the HSE with regard to exclusion periods for different illnesses. Although we don’t want children to be absent from school it is important that we follow these guidelines to minimise the risks to others.
If your child has an illness and you are unsure if they child should attend school, please click on the links below which detail restriction and exclusion periods as provided by the Health Protection Agency which we adhere to. If your child is unwell with a more serious infection and the absence lasts more than 3 days, the school requires medical evidence of illness such as a doctors note. We do not require a call every day once we have seen medical evidence but would expect an update if the illness continues after the expected return to school date.
If we do not receive an explanation, or if the explanation is unsatisfactory, we will not authorise the absence, and this will be shown on your child’s end of year report.
